Here is something unusual, play Lock to get the lead, and then put in Geno to protect it. ( or not give it away) If we fall behind again, then put Lock back in.

I still believe the starting QB. Is not on the roster. However if no change is made , Lock will start because he has some upside. Gino is exactly what he is--a career back-up.

Tanking for a higher draft position. especially for a QB, is very risky.

There were a few grammatical errors in this episode of Seaside Joe and I apologize for rushing it out to you all with mistakes. Will work on these in the future.

When thinking about the QB draft class of 2023 I remember the year that Payton Maning and Ryan Leaf came out and the debate about who would have the best career. Just because you have a top 5 pick does not mean your team will choose wisely.

The draft is the same almost every year: "Do you want the traditional pocket passer or the dual threat/athletic/exciting/gunslinger option?" I mean, it's so consistent that it doesn't help quiet the "NFL is scripted" chatter. I could see that building up between Stroud and Young right now.

There is just no reason for Pete to give away anything at this point. I'm a curious fan too, but if keeping the world guessing up until the last minute (which they will do no matter what happens against the Cowboys) gives them even the tiniest advantage against the Broncos then let's do that!

What a great Grayson interview!

I haven't seen any tape on Grayson McCall yet (I'm going to go read the article you posted but I have watched a bit of Will Levis and I'm thoroughly impressed with him. He gave me huge Josh Allen vibes only he threw with better accuracy than rookie year Josh Allen.

Will Levis reminds me of Malik Willis and I'll leave it at that! He'll need to have a career year in 2022 if he wants to be a high draft pick as a 24-year-old prospect in 2023.

So appreciate this sort of post. It's maddening to listen to a coach who deliberately obfuscates. But that's our Pete. A lot of coaches do that. I prefer those who don't, but Carroll hasn't asked for my advice. I'm hopeful Drew will play most of Friday's game and do well. We'll see.

Once the season gets going, he should be a lot more straightforward. But I'm afraid with either QB, the questions of "why aren't you playing the other guy?" will come up.

If I were a coach, I'd have a strict no BS policy. I'm not a believe in psychological manipulation of one's players or trying to gain an intelligence advantage over an adversary. Maybe that's why I'd never be a coach.

If I were the coach and someone asked "Why aren't you playing the other guy?", my answer would be something like, "Because he lost the competition." Or whatever the real reason was.

Throughout this quarterback competition I have really wanted Drew Lock to show us the talent he has. As Kenneth and Pete have rightly pointed out we just haven't had much of a chance to see him perform. I think he by all reports has done well at practice. The truth is you can never be sure while the QBs are wearing the can't touch me red jersey. Pete is going to get what he wants, a good look at Drew when live rounds are being fired, and Drew is under pressure. I am not talking about purely the pressure of on coming rushers. What I am referring to, is Drew has known since he got sick, his career is possibly on the line against the Dallas Cowboys. This is the mental pressure he needs to rise to, in order to be a successful leader of an NFL football team. This what Pete wants and one of the reasons he keeps saying Geno is the leader. Pete needs to know if he can trust Drew no matter the situation. Is three quarters of a football game enough probably not but that's what it has come down to.

Just quickly I sure am glad I have never been on Twitter. For one thing I am obviously to long winded.

As far as PFF grades go I have never put very much credence in what they say. I don't like one of the presenters, the really tall chap seems okay, the other fellow is to snarky. Respect the people you are talking about.

I almost chocked on my coffee when I read Geno was the fourth highest rated QB in the pre season. Nothing against Geno who has had balls dropped, but if your not scoring points how do you get an 89.9 score.

You are definitely a finely-tuned PC Interpreter Machine!!! I totally agree with you. He’s a public figure with fine public speaking skills. It’s not helpful listening to what they say in public. Follow the money and that will leads to their actions! That’s why you have been dead on since the beginning of the off-season in predicting what PC/JS would do.

Some people will destroy me if Geno Smith is the starter, but I think if that happens, then things didn't go quite to plan but Lock will be right there waiting in Week 1.

You and me both I just had my 60th birthday yesterday. One thing about being 60 is it is far better than the alternative !

I truley believe Seattle will be competitive in 2023.

Hey, I'm right behind you at 59. What's wrong with 60? I don't know about you, brother, but my life has gotten better as I've gotten older. There are challenges. I'm not physically what I once was. My libido isn't what it once was. But other stuff has opened. I find the world more beautiful because I'm relaxed and my heart is open. I have emotional maturity. I have financial security. I appreciate all the good things in life that I used to take for granted. Even in the bedroom, there's a way sex has become more meaningful, more connected, as the heat of the experience has diminished. No complaints. I'm grateful to have gotten this far and I'm grateful that 60 is no longer old as people routinely live now well into their 80s and beyond with good quality of life. Not everyone, of course. But for those of us who are blessed in that way, there are more days to appreciate.

As I mentioned being 60 is far better than the only other option. I didn't get married until I was 48, and I am very happy it worked out this way. On my birthday I mentioned to my Mum that turning 60 was a little scary, she put that in context by saying I am 84. Sixty is not as daunting after hearing that. I have been waiting for a hip transplant for a year now. Here in Canada đŸ‡¨đŸ‡¦ and probably the same wherever you are, all elective surgeries have been pushed well back, because of Covid. I do suffer from a quite a bad lower back that has not been figured out yet. On a posit note i played my first round of golf in two years. I webt to the chairopractor and had some very good pain meds and shot 84. I didnt loose a ball. I have been as low as a 6 handicap, so I was very pleased with 84. Twenty three years of rugby has something to do with the injuties LOL.. I loved every minute and traveled the world. Come September I am going to be coaching rugby at my high-school as an assistant coach. I am looking forward to helping out and giving back. My school was great and it is famous for rugby. I just had my 40th class reunion/41 as it was pushed back a year. What a great class we all get along so well, it helped as there were only 95 of us, 500 at the senior school. Initially when I started in grade 8 it was an all boys school. That fortunately changed in grade 10 and have great friendships with what was a small group of girls, 15 to 20 from grade 10 to 12. The school has been fully coed grades 1 through 12 for 38 years. Anyway I feel blessed to have had so many great friendships, my wife my Mum, Dad and Sister. So no complaints, and like you greatful to have gotten this far. I also like your thought of 80 and well beyond with a good quality of life.

I have been a Seahawks fan since game 1 in 1976. One thing that used to bother me was the local blackout rule if 95% of seats were not sold. I live in Victoria which as you probably know is the southern tip of Vancouver Island. I live in a different country but live within the 125 mile rule for blackouts. As the Seahawk flies I am 70 miles from downtown Seattle. I still wanted to watch them even during the rough years because you get to know the charectors. Zorn to Largent, Craig to Blades, Curt Warner, Easley and Cortez Kennedy. We had a good spell with ground Chuck Knox. Things really changed for the better when Holmgren came. Most of the 21st century has been great for the Hawks. Walter Jones, Matt Hasselbeck, Ricky running Waters, Shaun Alexander. Then coach Pete came along with so many dynamic players and 3 trips to the Super Bowl. One was stolen from us one was outright lost and of course the amazing win and pounding Peyton and the Bronco's Things look pretty good especially after yours and others earnest encouragement .

Oh you kids. I'm going to be 71 next month, same as Pete (who's 9 days younger than me.) But like you say, getting old beats the only alternative.

Seahawks fan since 1980. Moved to Seattle the year the mountain blew up. Glad I stayed despite all that!
