What Week 14's game between Seahawks-49ers tells us about Seattle's present and future 12/10/2023

The year is 2023.

I know, it sounds like the opening title card to a science fiction movie, but I am opening with “the year is 2023” today just in case anyone else feels like the Seattle Seahawks got their calendars mixed up. The year is 2023 and the Seahawks are nearing the end of their second season since trading Russell Wilson, the moment in which many fans thought the franchise had accepted the need to rebuild.

But based on how the last two seasons have gone, it’s as if this season should have been last season and last season should have been this season.

While 2022 felt like progress in the second or third year of a rebuild, 2023 feels like starting over.

I wrote before the game that the Seahawks needed a “Super Bowl” to beat the 49ers in Week 14. Did we get that and what did we see from Seattle that is both encouraging and discouraging?
