Thinking of the practice squad, it dawned upon me that the Mariners, at one time, had their all-star A-Rod and now they have their star rookie, J-Rod and the Seahawks now have SaRod. Just thought that was interesting.
The IR moves and PS should give us a better look at the actual roster for week 1. I agree with Joe with D Young going to IR. I do not know what the staus of both 5th round D Line picks, Mike Morris, Cameron Young. Young has not been on the field for most of the offseason.
Trawling through some of the other teams cuts (because why do my actual work, when football is much more interesting).
Jets have cut Zack Kuntz, 7th Rd pick this year, at some stages was a Day 2 lock in the process. Bengals cut Jaxson Kirkland, was one of my fringe O-Line maulers to keep an eye on in the draft with experience at Tackle as well as Guard. Maurice Hurst, former 49er, cut by the Browns could help at IDL. Out at the Steelers former Hard Knocks star Breiden Fehoko, not for us but sad (Tanner Muse also cut from Pit). Rob Cooper cut from the Eagles. Alex McGough didn't make it in Green Bay. Falcons didn't want Godwin Igwebuike or Frank Ginda. Brandon Smith & Bumper Pool as LB's out in Carolina (Smith i didn't think was that bad, Pool is just for the name).
It's as been said for a few weeks, teams don't cut good players. Hard to find anything that useful for DL or LB or OL out there. Maybe some of the late Day 3/UDFA's that are cut could be looked at as a shot in the dark. And Wilkins making noises he'll play out the year in Miami continues to shrink the pool of tradable DT's. Anyway, back to work.
No real surprises from the 'Hawks - do we ever have surprising or interesting cut days?
Taylor goes to PUP in Indy, just what AR needs - no run game to ease him into the league. Big Bill rolling Mac alone (at time of writing), i feel McCoy could end up there? Hamlin is in for the Bills, which continues to just be a great good news story the league desperately needs. The Kicker merry-go round is rolling hard this year (do i stick with Folk as my Fantasy kicker, or tryout Ryland, because i don't have much faith in NE and expect them to attempt a lot of FG's). Sad to see Beasley being cut from Giants, always liked him (not that we should go get him).
And the Jones saga keeps going, now officially on the DNR list, and not even a hint of positive news (unlike Bosa, which feels likely to come through with a deal prior to Game 1). Still think it's too early to made a trade offer for him, but it could still be an option...
I'm kinda glad we don't have any true surprises. It goes to show that we are kept very informed and in-touch along the way, thanks to SSJ (and Pete being a good communicator, but mainly SSJ)!
Players given the injury designation can be given an injury settlement to keep them off IR. It allows you to get them back sooner but risks them signing somewhere else.
All makes sense initially. Listening to other people and other places, the biggest concern is NT. Jarren Reed is not a NT. Like him as a player but he's not that. The other, Nickel corner. Maybe Burns? or DW when he's healthy? That and finalizing the LCB starter. Right now I believe it should be TRE-
Why activate Adams off PUP to place on IR a week later and have to have him on initial 53? PUP is only 4 games minimum this year, same as IR. I might include Cameron Young as IR candidate as he has been injured.
I think they want him out there for practice even if he is not ready to play. I suspect they are going to play a lot of 5/1/5 and 4/2/5 personnel groups. Don’t be fooled by keeping 5 interior LBs as 2 of the 5 are strictly special teams and Bell is likely primarily special teams and the first of the bench in case of injury. If that is the case then they need to integrate Adams in with practice alignments / assignments, as he is likely going to be used in a different fashion this year.
Yeah, maybe we see Jamal out there sooner than we think. We know nothing about Cameron Young, but maybe they're afraid he won't make it through wavers and Gotel will. You're probably right about him being an IR candidate.
I will be sad if Bell gets signed elsewhere. Gotel looked to me like someone to keep as well but he should make the PS if the Seahawks want to keep him around.
Don’t understand how Rhattigan makes it. So slow. Only plays well against third stringers. In serious trouble if he has to play. Do we have “(between) two bellores?”
I bet Bush getting banged up in the final preseason game had something to do with it. I'm guessing he spends more time on the practice squad than the game-day roster this season. Maybe he's just the best special teamer out of those guys they expect to clear waivers and come back. who knows?
Maybe so. He did make a teams tackle or 2 in the games. I really thought O'Connell earned a spot ahead of him, but Pete sees them everyday in practice, and knows how they fit, character and competition-wise into the team, so i'll just defer to him.

Later today we should have a clearer picture.

Even though I liked what Gotel showed, I think Myles Adams may be a sneaky good player for us this year. He will be important on the DL, for sure.
I see JSN is back out practising and catching footballs from Geno. Russ must have left a case or two of nanobubbles behind...
When I see a player on the roster and I don’t know why, it’s assume they are a key special teams player.
"Not Final Long"?
"Nice First Lineup"

I meant Bush not Bell. (I hope Bell makes it to the practice squad.)

I’m disappointed that Winston didn’t make the cut.
I was too then realized he was in 2020 draft and already 26. Pretty sure he clears waivers.

Special teams.
