“Mild” seems like a category that is too kind for that travesty of a game. I was not expecting the collapse of the run D AGAIN.. so many missed tackles. Murphy was drawing doubles and triples and still the LBs could not get their fits right and make the gd tackle!

And Geno… the high snap was not on him but the trip most definitely was as Brady pointed out on the broadcast. Geno was indecisive and we saw basically a “bad Geno” game following the “good Geno” game vs Atlanta. Overall.. just so meh. I am expecting the Seahawks to fall to LA next week and if they do, I hope the Seahawks use the bye to prep Howell and see if they have anything there.

What an awful game!

Has Geno had more than 2 good games this season? He seems to be on a 1 of 4 pattern. It sure would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at the coaches meeting after this game. Is Mac wishing he had stayed where he was or looking hard at what’s troubling the team?

I actually think Ken is correct about the QB situation. Geno is a placeholder (if there was any doubt Geno demonstrated today he doesn’t have leadership skills of a seasoned starter). Is Howell any good? Who knows? But it is time to find out in the back half of the season.

Mac will get it turned around on D but there will be changes in personnel between now and when it happens.

Geno has definitely had more than 2 good games. I watched until we were 3-0 before a storm ended my viewing habits, but I recall at least a couple of those to have been good performances. He has often looked bad in two of the last three though and I’m not encouraged either. But there’s a an awful lot going wrong on this team.

Sure. I haven’t enjoyed more than 2 games. Two of the first three wins were just lucky. We all have different ideas of what makes good. I am glad you are enjoying them more than I have. Hope things in NC are on a steady improvement! That was devastating to see.

Doug, it is getting repetitive but man you say it all for me. I thought we had seen the worst of the Seahawks against NYG. Man was I wrong. When is the D going have NOTHING but tackling practice all week? < 20 yds rushing? WTF??? We left at halftime. NEVER have we done that. How disgusting.

I am a bit puzzled by the running plays we saw in the first half. We never know what the calls were and if the plays were changed at the line but that was ugly. The Seahawks never gave themselves a chance to get a run game going.

I got a pooper scooper for the whole team and coaching staff. Guess everyone felt really good about themselves after Atlanta. I stopped watching in the 3rd quarter. The players should donate their game checks to refund anyone who paid to see that garbage. Awesome seeing our team self immolate and flog ourselves during the national broadcast.

Yeah, I knew it was over when Geno threw that terrible interception. I watched a movie with my wife instead. It was a good decision for my blood pressure and sanity.

My seatmates said I should ask Hawks to reimburse for the fuel costs to drive from Oregon for that game. Pickups are expensive to drive.

What a terrible game in all aspects. They remind me of the raiders. Undisciplined and quit on each other. The entire coaching stafff along with JS have some explaining to do.

Lack of leadership and discipline on this team. That comes down to the coaches. I'm done with the Grubb offense. Back to pass happy from the start, not establishing the run. The late the runs always up the middle and getting stuffed. We have a fast and quick back, get him some space and let him break it.

Geno locking on to one receiver much of the time. He had plenty of time most snaps but gets hurried because the one receiver isn't open. Liked inept out there, flustered and clumsy. Body language on the side again demonstrating lack of leadership. I want to see Howell, at least is there something there for the future?

Defense was a sieve. Really embarrassing performance.

I don’t necessarily think g it’s just on Grubb. This is the worst OL they have had I can remember. Geno can’t look off who he is throwing at and makes it easy to read him

Well THAT was painful and embarrassing to watch. I’m sick and tired of hearing how the team is going to run the ball…that’s who they want to be. Bullshit. Grubb brought his passing offense from UW. He apparently forgot to bring the run game.

This team is wasting Kenneth Walker in his prime. By the time a running offense is implemented, Walker will be eligible for Social Security.

The entire team looked off. And I’m ready to assign some blame to the coaching staff. The team looked unprepared in all phases.

If the O-line can't block you can't really blame Grubb for that , he is calling what they think might work since they can't run. Any team that can't run is in severe trouble, and nothing the O coordinator can do about it.

The WHEELS came completely off in all phases of the game! Embarrassing loss - topped off by fight that started on the field and carried over to sideline. Who are the leaders of this team? If you had a leader or two, that fight would have been over, and out as soon as it started. What would’ve been wrong with bringing Howell in to showcase his talents, and give Geno reasons to perform in the clutch. Not a good day😩

The fight was the worst. Sorry Derick Hall, you should keep your damn mouth shut and accept your punishment for that bonehead play. Instead you mouth off. There was nothing you could say to excuse that play. There's definitely a leadership vacuum that needs to be filled by someone. When DK is the voice of reason there's a serious problem

think we can put

an end to Geno's extension! He's over paid now. He always was a place holder and it's time now to find his replacement.

The D will get better as all the new players get incorporated into the scheme.

It's hard to evaluate Grubbs coaching when he's stuck with an inconsistent QB and the worst Oline in the league! It will take at least one off season to remedy years of bad drafts and personal moves.

I miss Cam Bam too! A sure HOF minus the neck injury.

Hot: DK Metcalf. His importance to the offense and the QB should be obvious to anyone now.

Medium: Coby Bryant. Never quit and was physical from beginning to end. (Can’t go with Jobe, even with the INT—Josh Allen picked on him relentlessly and with good reason.)

Mild: As deserving as Williams is, Geno was a disgrace. Coming a couple games after showing up his teammates by throwing a sideline tantrum, the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty shows that he can’t control his temper without Pete Carroll to rein him in. It undermines everything. As usual, he disappeared for long periods.

My thoughts:

1. Boy oh boy, the run defense was atrocious. Don't know how much of that was on giving Ernest Jones 3 days of prep, but the Rams are coming up with their young star Kyren Williams and an established physical identity. If they can't get the run fits right quickly, will be another long day next week...

2. Tackling is awful too. Even Spoon, in coverage I think he's been fine but tackling in space? Ooooof.

3. Josh Jobe got picked on all game, I wouldn't even put him in the "medium" grade. He got burnt repeatedly.

4. The predictable runs that predictably got stuffed every single time felt like an excuse to say "well we tried". We don't have a good o-line, so the best way to counter a very good front 7 is by throwing screens around and behind them or using different runs like trap, draw, and outside zone to force them to rush disciplined (i.e. slower), make LBs bite on play-action to throw the ball in the gap between the LBs and safeties, and also create situations where a TE can engage a block, then slip out unnoticed for a big gain. I get that the offense hurts from not having DK running a deep route to draw off CBs and safeties, but against a Bills defense without Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano there should have been a way better plan to attack the LBs through various run, pass and play-action concepts.

5. There doesn't seem to be any leadership on the team. And I'm not sure that can really be fixed midseason. I think that's the biggest reason why the Seahawks have been so hot and cold these past few seasons. When the offense or defense is clicking they do a decent job keeping the energy. But when they're not having such a great few drives, I don't really see anyone on the broadcast hyping everyone up, it seems more like everyone's just sulking hoping something will happen. That leads to more pressure on the coaches too to try to force a big play, and when they can't the team just falls apart. We need more leaders on offense and defense to step up.

Other than perhaps the resurgence of Dickson, I'm not really sure there are any positives from this game. Maybe some individual players had good games, will need the film to come out to determine, but overall just a complete lack of team cohesiveness.

Definitely a stinker from the first play.

However, I take these games with a grain of salt, while coaches and players are getting to know each other and the NFL. Remember that we have about $100 M payroll handicap in dead money and bad contracts that could largely disappear next year. Lots of people learning new roles.

It would make NFL competition look trivial if new coaches with a young team and new systems all around could beat an elite team with an elite quarterback after 8 weeks of playing together.

That said, I look for progress and improvement week to week.

I liked the developing toughness of our secondary, though not necessarily their play today.

I also thought that I saw the germ of d-line leadership begin to emerge in the wake of the Reed-Hall fight. We'll see if that was my imagination.

Another encouraging sign is the emergence of Michael Jerrell as a developing right tackle.

I don't want to spend time rehashing Geno, or all of the players that tripped over themselves today. I'm more interested in where they take it from here.

I also want to point out that not quite everyone outside of Michael Dickson forgot their Wheaties this morning and give shout-outs to Ken Walker Jr and Jarran Read, among a few others that were not responsible for today's loss.

So many NFL teams have the owner in attendance and the camera shows them! Does Jody go to the games? Does she even watch them? I sure would like to see her reactions during these games. I don’t even see Schneider at the games but it’s rare for the cameras to get shots of the sidelines now that no one is chewing bubble gum and having a great time jumping up and down when something good happens.

yup - OKC Hawks? - wait a minute - no Seahawks in OKC!!!

Last thought on JS - you've heard how, on away games, JS gets to towns early to scout college games? Hawks surely have a scout network reporting to JS, but they really need to hit on some drafts (already gave up a '25 4th). So if JS is on the road getting a jump on '25 draft, we'll let him slide if he misses a few Hawks games home or away...

Was traveling during the back half of the game so just following along as best I could on NFL.com’s play by play tracker. Kept seeing all the blown opptys and it was like “man we gotta capitalize otherwise we’re going to get blown out”. From a distance, felt like the offense melted down, maybe bc of no DK to worry the safeties or to keep them from crowding the box, I couldn’t tell from just reading. But man, SO many mistakes.

Glad I didn’t see the Hall/Reed bickering. Disappointing to read that. So disappointing to read some of these other comments about how we melted down.

Does indeed sound like a leadership void. Wondering if this “captain for a day” thing is a good idea. Or, should the team captains really be the player-voted leaders, the guys they’re willing to follow? Several comments mentioning Kam, there’s a guy that’s going to get voted captain every time, same as Wagz. For a reason

What you hope is that this is the bottom. Also what you hope is that the team isn’t always this fragile. Two major blunders prevented points that could’ve at least kept Seattle in the game longer, but the fragile part is that they didn’t belong in the game because they never made the other team uncomfortable. Say somehow Seattle scores on the two and-goal scenarios. (Of course that second one wouldn’t have happened, but just presume.) Now you’re in a legit fistfight, and maybe Buffalo has more work to do. I doubt the W-L changes, because Seattle’s just not there with the talent, but the point is that Seattle, as presently constituted, has far too little margin for error. How many yards of penalties did the Bills overcome? That tells you hooooooooow much cushion they have. Now go back to where Seattle keeps losing: THE TRENCHES! I’m not point at Geno. He’s the least of the mess. Sure, he sucked today, but really, I keep watching other teams with lesser QBs who have TIME to throw. At times Josh Allen had five full seconds to throw! And then on the opposite side of the ball Seattle repeatedly gave up at least five yards a pop on runs.

So agreed: This was miserable, and other teams will just run and run some more (hey there, Rams!) until you can make that impossible. Schemes don’t matter when your talent isn’t there. John Schneider? He’d be egged on that sideline for the past five drafts that consistently under-invested in both lines. Watch tonight’s game between San Fran and Dallas. Both have done the opposite.
