Seahawks depth chart: How much has roster changed since 53-man roster announcement?
Seaside Joe 1320
The Seattle Seahawks announced their initial 53-man roster on August 30, 2022. How much has the team changed in the past six weeks?
Players who made it, but went on IR:
RB Rashaad Penny, S Jamal Adams, CB John Reid, DE L.J. Collier, RB Travis Homer, LS Tyler Ott
Collier has not yet been added back to the 53-man roster. The team added Darryl Johnson off of waivers after final cuts but have since placed him on IR.
Players who made it and are PS:
OLB Josh Onujiogu
Players added to the 53-man roster:
RB Tony Jones, Jr., LB Cullen Gillaspia, CB Isaiah Dunn, S Teez Tabor, LS Carson Tinker
Thoughts on the offense
The Seahawks have had some rotations at guard, but have had a healthy and consistent offensive line otherwise. Gabe Jackson was listed as “doubtful” for Sunday. The same six receivers who made the roster have stayed on the roster so far, as well as the three tight ends. Seattle’s first big loss seems to be Penny, with Kenneth Walker III ready to step in on Sunday against the Cardinals.
Thoughts on the defense
The loss of Adams has been the sticking point for the defense, although it’s unlikely that he would be the difference between being “good” and what they currently are. The biggest disappointment has been Darrell Taylor and it seems one of the few revelations, Daryl Johnson, is out for awhile. The Seahawks are also still sorting through the cornerbacks room to figure out the best combination to slot around Tariq Woolen.
We haven’t heard much from Dunn or Blount yet.

I think we will get our first look at Bruce Irving. Taylor should follow Mr. Irving around like a puppy. Taylor is still a good prospect, but it seems he is the Seahawk defender struggling most with the 3-4. Personally i would can the new scheme because i think it was meant to bring out the best of Jamal Adams, so maybe reboot in 2023. Right now the best thing for Taylor would be to play him on 3rd and 6 or more, and give him a chance at a 1st and 15 or a down like 2nd and 12 where you still have to respect the run. Otherwise only put him in if the guys in the rotation are gassed. He needs to rebuild his confidence. OG Pete is the perfect coach to instill some much needed bravado. Along the same lines, if and or when Collier plays have him play end on run downs something I think he can do. He is not what you would call a quick twitch player but he is strong. We need to find the combinations that STOPS THE RUN 🏃♀️.
I bet you never thought 2 months ago you would be writing this in October!

Speaking of which I haven’t seen any updates on Tre Brown recently—anyone heard about him?
