The preponderance of Seaside Joe readers agree that it would be wrong for the Seahawks to draft a quarterback with the first pick. It would also be wrong if they didn't draft a QB somewhere. I believe the Seahawks look at Drew Lock as a rookie QB all be it one on a second chance. Geno Smith is holding out for a better contract than league min. I would suggest to Geno sign before the draft. Geno is a millionaire with out ever playing football, so this is for the love of the game. I really don't see why anybody would want to waiste a 1st round pick on a QB. At nine there are franchise cornerstones just not at QB. Victoria Chris
Soooooo? Does "all of the above" mean that the Seahawks 'front office and head coach' are backing away from their original plans for "this year?" Look it up.
I don't know what you mean exactly. If you mean that a team is incapable of winning because they don't have a quarterback, we've covered that the QB position is overrated.
I mean that there was a "suggestion" that ... after Russell Wilson left ... the 'Hawks would NOT decide to improve instantly or in the coming season. Find their stories back then.
My dear friend, at my age (seriously old) if I knew how to find or do a link, let alone share one, I would! I’m clueless in the links department, other than golf courses. You were “there” and probably wrote some of the stuff I read. Others reported on it, too.
My skills on the computer are weak, but my memory is pretty good.
You said, "the 'Hawks would NOT decide to improve instantly or in the coming season". I don't recall things evolving that way. Pete expects to win every game, every year; that's how he's built and I can't imagine that changing. To challenge that notion you really need to find specific articles to back up your assertion. Go to Google and start plowing, that's what Kenneth would have to do.
I'll try to go back and find things. I know all about Pete and his usual plans! I don't know if he was 'in on' the first pronouncements or not. Howwever, right after the Russell Wilson trade, there was first the idea of kinda doing a 'Rent-A-QB' in the short term. (My words, not theirs!) That's WHY all of the fan suggestions came pouring in about asking and hiring a QB who might be OK for a short-term fix .The list included people such as Nick Fioles, Colin Kaepernick, and many others who might be able to accept or fill a short-term 'role.'
A tangent... I'd like a post where you discuss the tipping point for for aquiring or retaining players such as DK Metcalf. How do you appraise the level of team talent required to invest significant resourses in a single player? Does an A quality player balance a C quality player or do they all need to be at least a B?
Pete has always approached talent by looking for what they can do, not what they can't. How do you rate a player that has a specific talent that fills a need within the team's structure but isn't as good of an overall player as an opponent?
How do you know when the team has accumulated a level of talent that warrants "all in" status? It's not just wins, look at the Hawks 12-4 season. You and commenters have posited that the Hawks haven't been true contenders since 2015. So how do you know when you've reached at least the base camp for the climb to the top?
It is not true that Seattle hasn't been in contention since 2015. We kept ourselves in contention, but never went the way of the Saints. I have to believe the cap is going to soar to great heights and the players deserve this. In 3 years the contract DK signs now will be a bargain unless he gets injured a lot. Chris
QB or not QB,that is the? Use one of the(traded for) 6th round picks for QB competition. The rest of the draft dedicate to build around McCall-2023...my humble opinion🤗
Ok you mean team support or supporting cast. I get that I may have mis read or understood system. Of course we need help everywhere but safety our back ups are pretty good and punter. Victoria Chris

If you want me to read something, happy to see what links you've got to share.
