And if we had a top 10 offense, we could afford a #20 or higher ranked Defense, but both sides are horrid most of the time and we don’t stand a chance down more than 7 at any time, it seems.
Ken, we are hated as negative Nellies, but I feel like we may have been separated at birth! Agree with about 99% of what you say. We need to stop sugar coating this years team. They have regressed so much from last year, it’s pathetic. Every team has injuries, but when we have ANY injury, it becomes the excuse to give Pete another year to waste. I’m tired of this great defensive minded coach get a pass for bottom 5 defenses every year since LOB left
Ok, off topic. Geno. Everyone, including Pete and John knows that at BEST, geno might squeak the seahawks into a playoff wildcard spot buy that is it. That is his ceiling. Period. We do not know what Lock really can do. He needs multiple games to demonstrate what he can or cannot do as a Seahawks starter (sadly he has Waldron calling the plays). Is Lock the savior. Probably not but he does bring an enthusiasm and excitement to offset what geno does. I say start and play Lock the rest of the season. Establish some sort of baseline. Maybe he can win #1 starter next year. HOWEVER, we still need to draft the (hopefully) QB of our future next year. He can learn a lot under Lock.
This is just me 2 cents. Geno’s time should be over as we have NO CHANCE at a wildcard spot
The one part of football where continuity is most championed as being crucial is O-line play. We have probably had 50 combinations on this offensive line. We neither have stability, nor growth. Cross is slow to return to form from injury. And way more concerning is Abe Lucas isn't moving right; and I believe wasn't ready to go in the SF game. And maybe not now. Phil Haynes gets hurts every single year, and we should have known 22 year old Anthony Bradford was going to play sooner than later. Evan Brown is a solid player, but not special. There are some *special* players that draftniks were surprised were still on the board who we had chances to get (Daa'wan Jones and Creed Humphries come to mind) that we passed on players we would all swap for them in a heartbeat. I'm happy to have Charbonnett and Dee Eskridge picks happen, but damn.
We do have to stop them too... Guys I thought were going to be good this year are not playing good football. Coby Bryant got 4 snaps last game. He must be in Clint or Pete's doghouse. I never have an idea at all how much Pete gets involved in play calling and I've listened to Mike Salk ask him that after every loss for years now.
Jordyn Brooks looked great the first 4 weeks of the season. Sacking, tackling for losses, all over the place. Though outside of tackles; the Panther's and Giant's games were nearly all of his stats this year. I hope we get him back but we can't overpay for that guy. He's good! Keep him if he will accept being paid as a "good" ILB. But he's a liability in coverage, like basically all NFL linebackers. Deebo and CMC over the middle killed us last game. Granted, they are both dynamic players, and are going to get theirs. They are both strong, fast and make NFL defenses look slow most every week. But dang, we looked slooooow last week. If I could clone any player on the team to have another of, it'd be 'Spoon.
But even with only one 'Spoon (and I hope he's good to play), go Seahawks! This is THE game that will determine if we even have a chance. And I don't want to lose out for picks. Pete would never anyway. So we will at least win one or two, so might as well get into the playoffs and make some noise. LFG Monday night!
Regarding Coby Bryant, since he transitioned to safety, I’m about ready to see him take a bunch of snaps from Adams. Adams is blowing coverages, over-pursuing on runs, and talking smack when he just needs to shut his mouth. He’s one of the players that doesn’t seem to be buying in.
Bryant can cover better than Adams and he hits strongly. His 4 forced fumbles last year have been missed.
I hope he can make the transition to play safety, but won't be surprised if we don't see him much before training camp next year. I expect he's still got a lot to learn. I also expect there will be a couple of safety spots up for grabs in the offseason.
As the O-line goes so goes the Offense - They have been pass blocking OK, but man the run blocking has been extremely lacking. Let's hope for a real good game from them on Monday!
If we were out of it entirely, I'd vote for Olu getting all the center snaps. He's not been good enough when called upon, but reps against pros can (hopefully) better prepare him. Though I did look up Rimington Award winners over the years, and the list isn't a who's who of great NFL centers.
Olu is a great run blocking C (or at least was at MICH). I agree with throwing him in there and let him get his reps in. With so little contact in training camp and practice, this is the best way for young players to develop.

What's with the closing F-bomb?

"If the Seattle Seahawks were half the team that Pete Carroll wanted them to be, then they would either be a top-5 rushing team or a top-5 defense."
I must respectfully non-concur.
They ARE half the team that Pete Carroll wants them to be: smushing about in the middle-ish of the league instead of sitting away up on top.
Before you can run, run, run, you need a center and a right guard that can block, block, block.

What a great music video! I had no idea
Hard to one-up that one! But here's one for those who like "stoner music," as an ex used to call anything older than her and at all trippy.
