Side note SJ. You had the comp post a couple days ago. In case of TE we’re plus one. That’s a comp pick next year. Our OG signed to a massive contract could be another.

Paying Williams over $21 million a year??? That is WAY TOO MUCH $$& for one player based on $255 million team salary cap… I think JS had too much invested in him to let him walk away… REALLY??? $21 million a year for a DT with 4 sacks!!!

I think we had to let him go at that price

Totally agree. Can’t believe what a couple of these guards have been signing the last couple of days. On other hand Rams have a QB who can’t move and Carolina has a young QB that needs to “feel” safe.

Sure would like to see a Center picked up- My #1 choice is already gone, Lloyd Cusenberry (sp)-

I'm kinda excited to see how Olu² does in year 2, but we still need another guy there, regardless.

Couple of things. First, Fant is a John S player in that he is the remaining player from John’s trade of Wilson. John negotiated that trade and Fant was the best player aside from draft picks that Seattle received.

Second Grubb used his tight end as a primary receiver on third down rather than a blocker/ check down. Fant may produce more in a Grubb offense at least that must be the hope.

I truly hope that Grubb uses Fant properly. Plus heard about the Dawgs top 3 WRs all potentially drafted in first three rounds but I was surprised to see the UW TE was actually third in receptions. Got high hopes.

Being reported that Leonard Williams resigned with Seattle - That is good!

WAY TOO MUCH $$$ OVER 21 million a year

I'm ok with his number, too. It's basically the same as he was paid already, just extended 3 more yrs. Spotrac.com is up to date and has him as the 24th highest paid DL in the league. Doesn't seem crazy, right?

That is much better news than Fant! Not saying Fant is bad (except at blocking) but Big Cat is HUGE! I don’t hate the trade at all anymore!

Isn’t it reasonable to say we got the guy we wanted instead of that we lost one? I mean how do we know that Fant was or was not “the guy” all along?

I’d be surprised if we picked up anyone we’ve heard of in free agency. And outside of Bowers, I don’t think there’s a TE being projected as a value at 16. This is a wildly talented WR class though, with the top 3 all widely projected to go 4, 5 & 6 after the qbs go on the first 3 picks. Not that mock drafts are often accurate but that seems about right and teams up that high are going to want a haul to even consider trading back. What I’d give to see our big board (even after the draft)!

“…but now he is the only clear option.”

Re-signing Fant says that the Hawks are prepared to roll with Bobo at #3 WR. Plus, there’s no longer a positional need to draft a TE or a WR.

Huh? How is Bobo WR 3? Fant is before Bobo in pecking order. Agreed about that WR roster is basically filled. Do need a backup TE though. Blocking back type.

Damn indeed- They sure need another TE now and I feel that is too much for Fant, who isn't a very good blocker- I don't really understand letting Brooks go, but that is a pretty hefty deal he just got. I will have to trust in Mac here.

For the things the team can control ... Think today went well.

Fant is a good player. Not great but could be. Like the signing, brings stability to the room.

Kind of indifferent about Brooks. Think that would have been a decent price to get him back at but also not worried that he left.

Williams is the big one. Will we overpay? Will we get him at a good price? Will we let him walk?

And also, waiting patiently for Safety and LB to shake out.

Damn. Lost Brooks at a pretty reasonable price.

Guess that means big money for Queen.

I see it as guys who really know what their Defense will look like did not include what Brooks brings. In the year Wagner was in LA, I wasn't impressed with Brooks. Wagz may very well exceed himself in the new schemes and stay. When I think of Seahawk Culture, Bobby is first and foremost. I can see MM insisting on bringing Queens over from the Ravens. If he knows they will gel, Bobby stays. Both are predators.

The ironic thing is Seattle took Brooks ahead of Queen and were criticized for it; then somewhat vindicated when Queen underwhelmed under Martindale even more than Brooks did; then suddenly under McDonald he’s a top 10 LB. Just woulda liked to have seen him (bigger/longer and equally as athletic as Queen) under McDonald’s tutelage.

I have some doubts about Queen. He didn't play so great without Roquan Smith and is undersized.
