When I announced that I would write over 1,000,000 words about the Seattle Seahawks this year on Seaside Joe dot com, someone made a great points in the comments section: Don’t forget to include the Seaside Joe community’s words in there too!
You’re 100% right. I give that comment a PFF grade of 150.77, the highest possible score.
My words are one aspect of Seaside Joe, but this newsletter would merely be one person’s ramblings to himself about a football team without all of you completing the circle to create a highly-intelligent, insanely attractive Seahawks fan community. I require more of your words again.
This week we reached 1,300 subscribers and I’m grateful for your support to grow this quickly over the past nine months since moving our operations to Substack. I’ve searched all over the Substack database for other communities that are as engaging and active as Seasiders, and I can say with absolute certainty that I haven’t seen a single “sports” newsletter this side of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s that has an audience as invested and engaged as YOU.
Me and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on a pedastal. Same as always.
Nowhere else do I see as many comments. Nowhere else do I see as many likes for content that readers enjoy receiving in their e-mail inboxes. Not even on Substacks that have “thousands” and “tens of thousands” of subscribers.
We have “thousands” of subscribers according to Substack, but I feel like that’s not earned because 1,300 is not “thousands”. It’s “hundreds”. I know we can grow into the thousands and I hope that we can grow into the tens of thousands, because I strongly believe in a format like this one that puts the power of written content back into the hands of the people who it belongs to:
The readers.
You have the power to decide which Seahawks writers deserve to be read, shared, and receiving attention for their work, because we all know the one thing that holds the most power in today’s world: “The numbers.”
“How many followers does that person have?” “How much money does that company make?” “What’s that person worth?”
People always pay attention to and respect the numbers. You—yes, you because I’m talking to every single person who subscribes to this newsletter—have already done so much to help Seaside Joe just by being here. Over 90% of you were not here six months ago! But in the future, you will be “one of the early adopters” to Seaside Joe and I’m grateful for that.
Thank you for subscribing!
I’m opening the floor for Seahawks mailbag questions today
What question do you want to pose to Seaside Joe about the Seahawks this week? It can be a question about anything! Help me out and drop a question either here or in e-mail reply form or ON TWITTER.
Some of you also take time out of your day to join the comments section community, and I’m grateful for that. If you have so far been too shy to comment, and decide to come out of your shell this week, I’ll give you 30 days to the bonus section for free. (Please note: You do have to have a free subscription to receive access, otherwise there’s nowhere to send it to!)
Thank you for commenting!
Thank you for sharing Seaside Joe!
Ask a question in the comments, you’ll really be helping Seaside Joe if you do!
Subscription is worth every dollar. I find myself checking for a new column multiple times a day. Plus going back to read added comments. Some of you are almost as smart as Joe......
How did we end up with all the best rookies, Joe?
