I'm a former Tacoman who now lives 15 minutes from Wake Forest's stadium. John Wolford threw for almost 3,200 yards as a senior with 29 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in the ACC. He's smart and had very good coach at Wake. He's been coached by Waldron. The Hawks would have a solid QB for next season with Wolford who could help prepare the rookie in 2023.

I guess if I were Pete and John, I would be looking at a 2 year guy. I assume we will try to draft our next "franchise" QB in 2023. That means I would be looking at a guy right now that has the experience and physical ability to a) be able to play in Shane's O scheme this year and b) be an experienced mentor and viable back up to our new QB next year.

So who fits this? Mariota would likey fit our 2022 scheme pretty well. He has the experience that he could mentor next year's QB and certainly could be a viable back up next year. Fitz and Cam - NO WAY. Winston, like you mention, is probably staying in NO. Gabbert, no. Smith, well he knows our play book, he is underwelming as a starter but could provide our new QB with reasonable mentoring. He could also step in as a backup in 2023 if called up. Siemian, no way. Glennon, no way. Wolford, like you have stated, fills most of the boxes pretty darn well. Guess I lean towards Mariota or Wolford.

Man, I hope we don't Pickett at number 9. If it happened, I'd root for him to be our next franchise QB, but I agree with you that it would be a low percentage move.

Okay Drew , or Wolford are my men. I can see Drew playing fine. One thing I don't want Pete to make him gun shy about turnovers. No one can play their best when they are worried about what the coach thinks. If it's 3rd and ten and Lock throws a 45 yard bomb that gets picked who cares if the tackle is made. That to me is a good turnover, just like a 45 yard punt. It also shows you will go deep. My final point, DK strength,is his strength he could be double teamed and would make the catch or break it up. Victoria Chris. Ps thanks for the update

I say give Lock a chance, he has potential..John Elway was awful his first two years, but turned out very good..

I still have to go with the feel good option, which is GMII. We might recoup the 3rd he costs us with the comp pick for Brown next year - if we are lucky. He has put up good numbers on a bad team, unlike Lock who has done the reverse. Would love to see him get another shot - bing the local boy home and let them duke it out in camp.

The Hawks Drew a Lock with the trade. Let's stay with him 'n wait for '23.

I know you are dead set against a QB in this draft but I think Matt Corral could be the guy. Pete is close with the Kiffins and if they try to sell Corral to Pete he would listen.

Just a quick thought even over paying for Wolford would be good. If he is our back up that means he will not be the Rams back up. He is a fine spot starter for the Rams and would be for us. More so without him the Rams don't have a safety blanket and Stafford like all players gets hurt. We gain and our foes would lose. Victoria Chris

So much for Mariota

As I have said many times, Mariota, Winston but a new contender to have a Pete Carroll second chance John Wolford. I had lost track of him i did see him by chance w times in college, I was impressed with his arm and mobility. He does know the offense you could pay him just enough that the Rams couldn't or wouldn't stomach it. These three quarterbacks would NOT assure Seattle a top pick next year. I listened to Lock today, the fellows will like him, as they would the other three. If we do beef up both lines Seattle could be competitive but we must add pieces to both lines. If we want to run the ball the threat that we can complete passes has to be there. One quick note I think we can find line O line hope in the draft, as well people say edge rusher is deep. It will be hard to sell free agents on Seattle unless they are west coast guys. Next year is a whole new ballgame. Victoria Chris
