It’s good to hear Kamara is off to a slow start, I hope age or line play is slowing him down, because I haven’t forgotten how he gashed us the last 2 times we played (both losses), with 175+ total yards both games, over 100 rushing in 2022 and over 100 receiving in 2021. I would never look past that guy, and he kinda looks like he’s “due”.

As far as Kellen Moore goes, Prosser’s favorite son, he’s kind of in the same boat as MM was last year, new coach trying to rebuild a team on the other side of the ball. I’m rooting for him to do well later in the season, and am glad we’re catching him early. Young QB in a new offense, against a heavy pressure defense backed by the 12s. I see why we’re favored by 7.5, but let’s not relax.

Sure didn’t! The Saints finish their 2025 NFC West tour, losing by 5 to the Cards, 7 to the Niners . . . and ‘hawks were a different story.

If I asked you which player, against the Steelers, had 133 yards and a TD, everyone would guess K9...but it's actually Holani.

I re watch the niners game a few times now...they got very lucky to beat us. They did win, they did. They imposed there will somehow and they won. But I'll bet you dimes to dollars that we beat them if we could replay that game somehow. Our pressure was getting to Purdy, we keep that up and things are gonna slide our way. We were just getting the kinks worked out week one. We improved so much from week one to week two. If we keep up that rate of improvement, we'll be so good by the mid point of this season. Begaw!

A few years ago, I swam competitively as an adult. I had a fantastic coach who set two world records in the fly (in the 65-69 and 70-74 brackets) and who had been coached by Canada’s Olympic team coach. Yeah, Bert knew his stuff.

Bert emphasized the 3rd quarter of swim races. It’s easy to go out too hard in the first quarter. You still have juice in the second quarter. You’re giving it all that’s left as the finish line approaches. But the third quarter? It’s no man’s land. You’re fatigued. You’re concerned that you’ll run out of gas at the end. You’re motivated to save something in the tank for the big finish.

Football is a bit different, because you get a halftime break, but that can be tough too, because you have to get your adrenaline back up.

So maybe the last two possessions of the second quarter (score and stop them from scoring before the clock runs out), plus the third quarter are the hidden, crucial phases.

BEAT. THE. SAINTS.

For the game against the Saints on Sunday, just don't beat yourself. Our giveaway/takeaway numbers are starting out pretty good, and we need to stay on the + side of that this year (-6 last year). Hopefully our 3rd down conversions continue to improve on both offense and defense.

I had forgotten the Cardinals game is on a Thursday night, which sucks, but sucks for both teams. I worry about injuries in those short-week games. I'd like to see a blowout like Danno is suggesting, but man, the Seahawks just don't seem to do blowouts. Everything is close.....against good and bad teams. I would happily take a lopsided win, I just wouldn't bet on one. But if we do start pounding meh teams, that will be a significant signal of change.

Rattler might surprise us, might be better than his numbers because (and boy don't we know this riff)...his OL is terrible. And his receiving corps is thin.

I do hope -- and I mean this -- Olave doesn't go out with a concussion, again, against us. I'm a little surprised he's still playing. But Tua's on the TV still playing...

Fun article but it's way too early to establish any meaninglful trends. I hope I'm wrong ( it would be the 1st time ) but this feels like a trap game ...at home against a bad 0 and 2 Saints... very reminiscent of last years Giant debacle,!

I'm sorry, but two games is way too soon to take notice of trends, but I salute you for staying on top of trends I might miss. I think this last game went into the fourth quarter tied 14-14. Then we exploded for 17 points, and the game was over by the middle of the fourth quarter and then circumstances change so stats start getting skewed because every play becomes a pass play and it ended on a 4th down INT that we would have been ten yards better in field position to have dropped it. I don't blame Bryant and I don't think the coaches care, either. The INT or a turn over on downs ended the game. Does anyone know why they ran the ball at that point? Seens like it was unnecessary and hard on Charbonnet and his stats. Why not kneel it down?

One other observation I wanted to make. The Seahawks sent Shaq Griffin (CB) back to the practice squad and promoted Cody White (WR). Reading the tea leaves I think the Hawks feel Spoon will be back this week. Also, perhaps White was promoted because of the Horton groin injury. Horton did practice today but was limited. I was almost hoping they would err on the side of caution and keep Spoon out for a little extra rest for Thursday’s crucial game against the Cardinals.

Vets can't make rookie mistakes, like Griff does when buying Roger's fake handoff to chase the decoy as Aaron runs right passed him. Griff ends up standing in the backfield watching Rogers pass it from out in the flat. A bit of study would have you know how good Aaron is with faking handoffs. MM: WTF?? No surprise he's demoted. Expect he'll be gone soon enough.

Danno's avatar

Yeah, I also think he could be gone soon, especially with the play of Kendrick.

JIMMY JOHNSON's avatar

Excellent point. Wasn't he off some mystery illness after MM hired him?

Expand full comment
Danno's avatar

I think someone in his family past away. Or something like that, it wasn’t an illness. Kendrick is just such a great surprise pick up, or at least it appears he is. If they keep Shaq, it will likely be on the practice squad unless someone ahead of him gets hurt. I was concerned about CB depth just a few weeks ago, now I think we’re fine there.

What about Bobo? Are they going to promote White over Bobo? Maybe. He was noticeably faster and seemed to be running crisper routes than ever in the preseason. I wouldn't mind them giving him Horton's targets against N.O. Let Horton heal up for Arizona.

Bobo will remain a hold card for future surprises.

Danno's avatar

Bobo is already on the 53. White was on the practice squad. I think Bobo will stay on the roster. Shaq was sent down to promote White. Whit, was one of the punt returners I saw in the fan fest, and I think he was one of the major punt returners in the last preseason game when Horton was sidelined. I think he will be the punt returner if Horton does not play.

Grant Alden's avatar

I think this has to do with gaming the system. Shaq, because of his vet status, resets the clock at zero call-ups to the 53 when they do it this way. And if I didn't explain that very well it's because I don't understand it very well.

Danno's avatar

No, I get you there, but they will have one less CBs for this game. I don’t think they exchange a CB for a WR if Spoon and Emmanwori are going to be out for this game. I think it’s likely Spoon plays on Sunday because of this move. I’m less convinced calling up White means Horton will be out, but White is capable of returning punts if Horton can’t play, or he can play, but don’t want him returning punts with his groin injury.

Man I hope my comments during the Steelers chat about the last 2 mins and the first 2 mins (I now realize it should have been 4 and 4) didn't come across as ridicule. Because I think it makes total sense. In fact I've become accustomed to watching for it -- just have been doing it wrong, focusing only on the last 2 and the first 2. But count me as a supporter/defender of the principle!

Really hoping the defense doesn't regress against a lesser opponent. The Seahawks of the last 5 years seemed to play down to their competition, which is how we lost to the Giants last year.

If the Hawks just come out and crush the Saints, I will feel a lot better about this team going forward. But I have low grade PTSD from the final Pete years and as confident as I want to be, deep down I worry this game might expose some things I can't unsee.

But I am outwardly optimistic this will be the beatdown we think it will be. If we lose, I will be under my bed quietly sobbing if you need me.

HA! My hope is losing Game 1 will eliminate any attraction "taking it easy" has had in years passed. (GRRRR) I expect the Saints will be unlocking their primal instincts before going 0-3. They are no joke, playing for pride and know how to do it. Plus Rattler is displaying a powerful "IT" factor. He'll be out to do the rattling. His Guys love him for it.

I also found that Steeler’s O-line 22 analysis and posted it in the SSJ chat for fellow Joe’s to post links of interest to Seahawks fans. I hope some of you might take a minute to post quality links you feel we might all benefit from.

I think besides the Hawks defense taking a step to being truly elite in this game, the Hawks offense will make another step in the right direction. My prior prediction for the game is 41 - 6 Seahawks, and the game is basically over in the 3rd quarter. The benefit of playing like this will mean we can finish this game with 2nd and 3rd string players. Having the starters on the bench for the last 20 minutes going into a very short week for a Thursday night on the road against Arizona in a division game we may need to win to take the division title.

Oh, you like me have got very excited reading all these numbers, but I am afraid you have been overly optimistic. I think the best we can hope for is 40-6.

Seriously though, this is probably a dumb thing to say 2 weeks in, but I see no way we lose 5 out of 6 games like we did last year. I mean ever again or at least not till after a couple of rings.

Well, I was closer to getting the Steeler game right than most people. True, they didn’t win by 18, but if we made that chip shot field goal and only threw one INT instead of two, we would have won by more than 18. I don’t guarantee a 35 point victory, but I believe it will be a big Seahawk win. The defense will be as good or better, and the offense will take another step forward. Plus, I bet MM is not going to let them take the Saints lightly. He wants a Lumen Field victory in a BIG way.
