The Klint Kubiak effect:

https://x.com/ScottBarrettDFB/status/2118355152906363277?a=BxuGrWYZMtYSC09TntI&s=20

Almost all of the concerns some fans/analysts had with the Seahawks going into 2025, with the downgrade at QB (I would consider it more of a lateral move like the Hawks said "Pivot" personally), the line not really being addressed (altho Zabel was drafted), and no WR adjacent to JSN.

Have become true. They were just masked one year because of an incredible OC. Or at least, that seems or could be the argument to make.

Did Fleury break Barner? Is he getting mixed messages from coaches? Did the SB win make him complacent? Is he hurting, but not bad enough to miss practice and be on the injury report? I don’t know, but he seems to have regressed as much as anyone on the team.

Abe Lucas is the other head-scratcher. Given that Benton is the same guy as last year, I’m perplexed.

Unions learned to protest Decisions with "Work Slow Downs". Maybe the guys are registering a bitch/complaint by doing their own version?

I don't know if the blocking assignments are different, or if they are depending too much for the TE's to make their own adjustments, but on the All-22 it sure looked like Barner and Kallerup were aiming at the wrong defenders much too often, and Lucas was playing matador, ole' ole' ole'.

You see everyone on the sidelines with their touch-screens after every series. Can't the coaches see where assignments are missed, and where position groups are getting over-matched? Maybe Fleury should go sit upstairs so he can see what's happening.

Barner's been a no-show this year. Letting an obvious edge rusher unleash on your QB is unforgivable. He was 3 ft away. Barner pretended to "not see him" and helped Abe double on his guy. Got sucked back by the guy's passing turbulence vacuum. That is WRONG all the way around. Even I know you SIT that kind of incompetance. Zero excuses. If this is erupting everywhere, then MM has issues.

The only thing I can think is that he thought the RB was there in pass protection. If so, it was a brain fart that still stinks.

I’ve decided the Bears game was like a 1st preseason game for the OL. But now they’ve had another week of working together so higher expectations. I do wonder if they’re not better with Bradford out there on running downs or play action. He looked really good against Chiefs and they had Chris Jones

So we need to see much better line play.

And Darnold needs to be resilient as he always has been, settle down and let er rip. Yes there may be int’s but he needs to be free to do his thing, which is world class when he’s on.

I expect to see our team extremely motivated and not overlooking AZ. I always expect the unexpected in divisional games.

My biggest concern on offense is the inconsistency week to week, and zero progression. With KK there was clear improvement week over week.

The slow starts and inconsistency means Our D has to be perfect every week to keep us in games. The biggest concern I coming out of the Bears game is how open their receivers were, which gave them space to run after the catch.

I’m sure another week of reps will help Zabel.

Gardner Minshew is a big wildcard.

I'm not worried about beating Arizona, but I'll admit, if we lose, we will be in danger of missing the playoffs. It is not all of any one thing, but if I had to put blame on a single player, that guy would be Sam Darnold. I think Brian Fleury deserves some of the blame, and maybe all of it, or most of it. As to expectations, I have none at this point.

Ugh, I never thought I'd ever hear the name Pharoah Brown ever again in a Seahawks context! My brain is melting! He was a worse blocking TE than receiving TEs like Graham and Stevens.

I can't see the Seahawks struggling against Arizona. We're not as bad as Chicago made us look, and the Cardinals aren't as good as Dallas made them look.

I’m not as convinced.

And the new O-line will have had another week to get ready and become a more cohesive unit.

It is not easy for an O-line to gel when you have three new players at new positions. I think seeing the film of the Bears game will help all of them play a little more cohesively this week. One thing they really should think about doing is cutting Fowler to save a little money, extend Nelson to get a little more money, and trade for Mack, currently on the chargers to replace Fowler. That improves pass rush and run defense. I sat this because Fowler looks like a liability out there.

Cutting Fowler right now saves only 360K from saves on per game roster bonuses. His base salary is already fully guaranteed as he was a vested veteran on the team's roster for game one.

Khalil Mack would cost $10M against the cap this year, and the team does not have room to pay that. They would need to find restructures to push cap hits into later years, and would have *really* consider if that is worth this, plus whatever they would have to give up to trade for him.

I don't know if it would be a good move, but if I was GM, I would definitely not do these.

Q did pass the eye test for me but when a professional breaks down tape like this it is eye-opening and exciting that we have a blocker of this caliber. Let's get him extended asap!!

Seems FLEURY HAD BEST MAKE TIME DURING THE GAME TO ASK HIS LINEMEN WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT HOW THE GAME IS GOING. Or maybe that's "Just not done"...?
