No. Everything i said up to this point has been about his style and level of play NOW.

Nothing was mentioned about him as a person. Every Hawks fan loves Wagner! It goes without saying.

One-year reported $7mil - will see how that contract breaks down into guarantees vs incentives before rating it as a move. With all the other defensive changes i like bringing in Bobby for his overall leadership and influence, and he did play really well last season (and his final year with us was still good). Whatever outcome, i like the one-year aspect, doesn't prevent our 2024 title push we're building towards.

Also i will allow my nostalgic self to enjoy the moment and just be happy to have Wagner as a Seahawk :)

Hated the move. He cant run any more. Seems to play tag football. Doesnt really hit. Dont get this getting old on defense movement with Reed and Wagner abd possibly Woods. Adams is 26 but going on 36.

Get veterans on offense and load up defense with young fast and hungry players.

Best free agents available for the money. The Seahawks had their best draft in years by going best player available rather than drafting for need. Filling holes before the draft is the way to do that again.

These aren’t long term contracts but help the Seahawks transition to a new defense. Would you rather the Seahawks signed OBJ and Fournettte? By the way Ray Lewis was an old slow 36 when the Ravens won their second Super Bowl.

The game has changed a lot as you know. A lot more passing. 3-4 or 4-3 alignments are no longer base defense any more. 36 yo lewis would not get on the field.

I want PHD - poor hungry driven - on defense. Experience on offense. No need to waste money on fournette. OBJ is prolly not moving that great otherwise Cowboys would have signed him.

As matter of a fact, Ken did an awesome piece on Geno Smith’s agent. Money talks!

I hope NFL players dont ever discount their services and sign team friendly contracts.

For the players you mentioned, Im highly skeptical they took less. I didnt hear teams lining up for their services.

They took the best market deals and they should always do that.

For once, Dremont Jones said hes coming to Seattle during radio interviews because the Hawks offered the most money. Honest answer! No BS!

So with the free agent money we had who would you have signed instead?

Even with the best intentions, the BPA approach happens in round 1 and 2. After that, teams will draft for special teams and depth needs. Thats where we could get a PHD at off-ball linebacker.

Wagners contract is prolly more closer to 3.5 mm.

A 50% discounted item is still not a good deal if it’s something that I dont fit my needs.

I dont take junk home even if it’s free.

Did you mean to imply that Bobby Wagner is trash? Also my impression is that teams draft for need/ salary management/ boa/ in the top two rounds and then bpa in the lower rounds. My impression is that most players drafted after the third round do not start as rookies and less than half ever start absent injuries. Can you point me to a team that is consistently drafting and starting 3/4/5 round picks over a three year span?

Finally, 2011 Ray Lewis starts today for everyone but the Niners. All time great and great in pass coverage.

Wagner, Like Geno and Lock, signed a home town discount contract. Players are buying in and recognize that their QB signed a team friendly contract, and other players are following his lead.

Geno did. I’m skeptical that can be said about Lock or Bobby.

I'm also glad BW is back, but I wonder which Bobby we're going to get? The HoF Bobby from 5 years ago or a washed up shell of his former self? Go 'Hawks!!

And a diminished version of himself the year before. I have to hope an injury was nagging him in ‘20 and that last year wasn’t in part playing 11 games behind AD and so forth.

Good to hear Bobby's back. Not sure where Seattle's getting the $7M to sign him. Hopefully he still has enough gas in the tank to be worth that kind of money. My assumption had been he wouldn't get signed unless we could get him for about half that amount or less.

What a free agency for Seattle. Kicker, 2 QBs, G, C, 2 DT, ST, S, 2 LB (1 future HOF). 10 picks in the draft including a 5th and all 5 before 100. Mind blowing.

I really wasn't expecting Bobby back, and it makes me wonder... about Jamal Adams.

Last year the Seahawks were moving towards re-making the D into a 3-safety look with Adams featured prominently. With Love coming in, Neal likely under contract, and the number of Safeties the Seahawks reportedly have an interest in given visits to Seattle (per FGs) I wonder if the Seahawks have intel on Adams' availability--or rather unavailability. The money talked about for Bobby (and the guaranteed will likely be less than the $7 mill reported, but still) means that the Seahawks may have to make a cut somewhere and a post-June release of Adams may be in the cards now.

My personal, uneducated opinion... Adams is done in Seattle. But they can’t cut him this year. It’s worth seeing if he can return to form and maybe (it’s a long shot) get some sort of trade value (late draft pick). Otherwise they cut him. Dude has amazing physical skills but the injuries add up and take a toll (mental and physical). I hope I’m wrong...

Didn't think it could happen because of cap. What do you bet Diggs restructures his contract. Really changes Seattle's draft strategy

Wags on a 1-year $7M? heck yah!

I was thinking that was his number based upon his twitter cover pic was changed to a 2 + 5 showing on a pair of dice. NICE!

As long as we can put the necessary beef in front of him, we got a BIG improvement over Cody. That dude was pretty decent on the open field but he did Not get off blocks well. His skill set makes sense since he was a Safety before.

As for Bobby, put some beef in front of him (like the Rams did last year) and he can repeat as the Top LB in the League (2022 ranking per PFF).

I wonder if part of the deal was that the Seahawks draft Carter if they can :D.

Bobby wants to keep those OL off of him so he can clean up, and having a force in the middle of the DL is a big part of that.

The Seahawks had better draft at least one MLB! Lawyer Milloy helped train up Kam Chancellor. It’s a perfect time for Bobby to play a similar role.
