This sounds a lot like Geno’s deal. A fair deal for in light of past performance with likely performance incentives, if performance improves. If this does turn out to be the case, then it’s a very encouraging sign. Because the Seahawks are putting their money with their mouth is, when it comes to always compete.

I'm just glad we secured our best front 7 player from last year. I'm thinking he will be at 11 sacks this year with 60-70 tackles. We need more pressure on the qb though

I was wondering what the exact cap savings was for this year Ken?

This extension makes perfect sense with the new young group of PR Seattle is putting together. Nwosu seems to feel at home/appreciated here after being somewhat overshadowed with the Chargers. His leadership with this young group (he's only 26) makes for some interesting chemistry for the next few years. I think this is the move/extension everyone was pretty much expecting and Seattle didn't disappoint. With the the signings of DW and ZC all but expected today, Seattle can focus at the job at hand and remove any off field contract drama to camp. Go Hawks!

It makes sense for everyone and seems like the correct value for what Nwosu brings to the team. I don't think Nwosu is going to get so much better that this turns into a great value, so I can't give it an A. I feel like its all average. It's the contract that he earned, but is not likely to outplay. I hope he stays healthy and I give it a C+/B-.

This is actually a 3-yr, $45 million extension after his existing contract (2024-26). With $33m guaranteed, so really a 2-yr additional commitment in substance. If you count the last year (2023) of his existing contract, that is where the $59m figure comes from, but that is over FOUR years, not three. Like it better now?

I'm happy about this. I don't have an opinion on the contract, but love the player. The defense needs an alpha at every layer of the defense, and with Wags back, hopefully we have that now. As the young guys come along, hopefully a lot more attitude evolves from the defense. I think Witherspoon will be a great influence on that defense as he gets going.

I'm shocked! SHOCKED! Well not that shocked...

As always, lets await the full breakdown to see how good it is. Based on the available details, i'm giving it an A Grade. It's a great signal to other FA's we really needed to make. It solidifies the position for a couple of years. Maybe slightly high on the face of it, but you look at the Geno deal or how the Jones contract is structured (hint hint, i think it's going to be incredibly similar with an easy year-3 exit, maybe more performance bonuses vs Jones relatively simple payment structure) and it should be a deal that benefits both the player and team.

I think the actual numbers will come in a bit lower than we think, as they usually do.

For the most part I don't care about how much a player makes. It's none of my business. The only thing I find interesting about contract terms is it gives us a look into the minds of the team and player when unusual contracts get signed... like Geno's.

Geno had his "prove it" season, so why sign for less dollars and make it easy for the Hawks to cut him? I'm still pondering that.

I gave it a B for now depending on more details I may like it more or less.

Great news for everyone.

In unrelated news “Mile High Huddle” just mocked Grayson McCall to the Broncos in the 4th round of the 2024 NFL draft.

I'll be watching that next spring.

Thank you for the McCall update! I respect the fact that they gave him attention; even if that would be terrible news.

I see this signing as very good for Nwosu. He had the Seahawak over a barrel. I do believe at 26 he will earn his contract and at 29 may have one more chance at a bag barring injury. Nwosu is a work hard try hard player, and has been healthy. How wish Jamal Adams had stayed healthy as there would be no talk of losing the trade. Anyway I am crossing my fingers this gives Seattle a little more room to add to their interior defensive line, ala Shelby Harris.

I think it's an A for getting the extension done, but without the details on how much cap room it creates this year it's tough to grade. They clearly needed space to sign Witherspoon and Charbonnet as well as the admin space for injuries, practice squad etc. The real key is if there is enough space to fill the 90th spot with someone like Shelby Harris say...then it's an A+.

We HAD to do it to get space for 'Spoon and Chardonnay (I sell wine for a living... sue me). His agents knew that. So, the fact that they didn't hold us over a barrel and leverage the club for an unfriendly deal is good. The club gave him a good contract, not one that debilitates them. It was a win-win, as good as could be done. Grade: A

It's a big number, but he did outplay his contract, and he's very young and ascending! So I'm for it.
