We get such scant opportunity to watch & listen to the players speak in a really personal way that in the question of picking favorites doesn’t make much sense to me. Even if strictly based on how they play, “favorite” still doesn’t register as a concept that I can grok. But just to play along I’ll also pick Boye Mafe because I really liked that YouTube interview SJ shared with us (showing an easy going down-to-earth guy who is into learning, positive about his teammates and has a nice sense of humor) and clearly he is a steadily improving player who seems to give 110% on just about every play.
Maybe Joe is referencing me (I hope so), but I want on the bandwagon too!
There are Seahawks games that stick out more than others to me. The Tony Romo dropped snap, Beastquake, the tip, etc. etc. But the first home game against RW beating the Broncos, as huge underdogs, everyone in the world is saying the Hawks are crazy or the suck etc. etc. To win that game and to see Geno throw a TD on the first drive and the explosion of emotion. Was awesome. PC chomping his gum with a crooked smile. Felt similar to the old days. Add the interview after the game. Just incredibly memorable.
Also, the game last year when Drew Lock started and led a game winning drive against the Eagles and Geno was on the sidelines giving him the "put your backpack on" dance. Lock was emotional after the game and in the press conference afterwards talking about Geno and how good a teammate he is.
I am not sure why people relate what happens to someone at 21 years old to what happens to someone at 32 years old. Does that happen in any other job? Do people pigeonhole you if you are in sales and were terrible your first year out of college? So why are people surprised by his growth? Don't most people get better at their profession with experience and age?
Geno has a great story and seems to be a great guy and leader. But I don't think his story is done. He receives an amazing amount of lack of credit for Seahawks success and an inordinate amount of blame for Seahawks losses. And he takes it all in stride.
Give that man some help and then let's see how he plays. It's a joke to compare what Goff has in Detroit and what Hurts has in Philly to what Geno has to work with in Seattle.
I can't get enough Witherspoon...dude is super electric. I hope he stays healthy and keeps getting better and better and brings everyone along with him. In 'spoon we trust....
- I think I'll be picking Kenneth Walker because of the time we spent watching all of his college games together in the summer of 2022, after the Seahawks were heavily criticized for drafting him. I said at the time, and I'll say it again: To those people criticizing the pick, you're setting yourself up to fail. You're pre-determining that now you can't root for someone who is almost destined to become a fan favorite. Why do that to yourself? Just enjoy the show! I mean, I do think everything is open to criticism, including players and the team and draft picks. But you're really not going to feel good having to go back and explain why you hated the time the Seahawks drafted one of your favorite players.
I can't pick a favorite and I wouldn't claim superfandomness status on anyone, but if someone said "have a free Seahawks jersey of you choice" right now, I'd pick Walker. I feel the breakout season coming. It's hard to judge from the limited media I've seen featuring him, but he seems to have a similar personality to Lockett, being both humble and passionate, that I quite like. Tyler Lockett would be my choice for a dinner date with a Seahawk. Maybe he's my favorite.
My absolute favourite Seahawk is without doubt SSJ. But, I know, you added the person needs to be on the roster (person?? Is the mascot on the roster?). Anyway, for my favourite ‘rostered’ Seahawk, and I’m surprised it’s not an overwhelming pick, has to be the ever reliable and outstanding Mr Dickson. He’s that good that everyone just expects him to continue to do what he does to the highest level, week after week, so everyone just gets complacent and forgets how good he is. Oh, and also, he’s an Aussie 🇦🇺🦘, so that makes him even more special.
I'm definitely nowhere near the level of fan some here are of Geno. I root for him and hope he exceeds my expectations, I love his story and how he's defied the odds, but I don't see him as much more than a quality stopgap until we can draft someone. And Pro Bowl nods don't mean a lot to me. Especially at QB, and especially the replacement guys. Last year's included Tua, Minshew, Baker Mayfield, and Geno. All guys I think it's fair to say all are barely in the top half in the NFL at their position. But QB is a funny thing. There's Mahomes, and then a tier of Allen and Burrow, then some promising young guys like CJ Stroud, and a lot of guys who can look great some games and underwhelming in others, followed by guys who probably shouldn't be starters. If you're out of that bottom tier, there's a good chance you can play in the Pro Bowl. I'm stunned it's even considered a contract escalator anymore. I hope Ryan Grubb can bring out Geno's best and make me eat my digital words. I guess I'll have to print them first.
There's not really a single player on the team I'm as invested in as I was with players during the LOB era or even Hasselbeck or Cortez in earlier years. I do really love Witherspoon and was thrilled when we drafted him over Jalen Carter so I guess I'd vote him as my favorite on the current roster. And I'm very intrigued by what Mike Mac is going to do with his talent. But I have this weird feeling that someone we weren't thinking a lot about is going to come out of the woodwork to become a fan favorite going forward. I wouldn't hate if it was Tre Brown or Bobo.
MO' BOBO!!! MO AN MO AN MO AN MO BOBO, all day, every day! My favorite Seahawks play from last season was his toe tap (did he REALLY GET BOTH FEET IN??) TD.
I'm going with Olu Oluwatimi. About 500 years ago I wore #51 and played center in my second team high school football career so I love the guy, but he also outplayed all of his college competition three years ago and I think he will outplay all of his professional competition in this, his third year.
I find myself stymied for favoring one of the half dozen+ qualified guys we have, just on offense. If Grubb's job is to confound the defenses like MM does with his D to offenses, then he will undoubtedly be injecting plays to heavily favor one guy for one purpose, especially on 3rd downs or in Red Zones. My bet is he will find Bobo's size and skill patterns especially attractive. The man has proved he can block, run, catch and probably pass with the best of the best, and that's just his rookie year. Toss in the fact that nobody yet see's this and we'll find our Secret Weapon, to be deployed on an as-needed basis. Hush-Hush stuff, to be expanded as the season progresses. "Be All You Can Be" will graduate to "Be More Than You Have Been". I am liking this for our Tight Ends and highly suspect we shall be seeing DK's blocking and scrapping reaching new highs (literally). I expect the contagion will reach into the Trenches and out into the secondaries by our Running Backs on Offense and the back-fields by our Defense. This Team has talent to be shut-down players on both side of the ball.
Tyler Lockett. Cool, Calm 'n Warm Hearted. Liked how during one playoff game instead of saying which college he attended Tyler gave kudos to his elemetary school. Am fine with this being "always young" Mr.Lockett's last year with the Hawks.
Lockett with Geno a close second. Tyler is wise beyond his age and I never tire of listening to him talk about the game or his team or especially about life itself...with his attitude it's no wonder he's so successful and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention he's the MOST underrated player in all of the NFL😉 and I hope it's not his last year with us😢
what can I say? always Michael Dickson, always Tyler Lockett, and this year I'm excited to watch Ro Torrence ... last year I wanted O'Cyrus Torrence, will see what happens ...
Don't really have a fav right now - But in Years past lots of them- Mack Strong, John L Williams ,Hutch the Manimal- Blair Bush, Joe Nash, Steve Largent, Richard Sherman, Doug Baldwin, Max Unger, Keith Butler, and actually lots more.

Great comment Maxx!

Anyways, MAXX let me on the bandwagon!
Go Geno, Go Hawks
I was!
Love that! Thanks for the shout out!
Not half obvious 😁
In yesterdays interview, I noticed Geno is now grooming himself for success. Speaks volumes.

Always been a fan of George Fant. Thought he'd be our starting tackle for the next 8 years back when we picked him up undrafted in 2016.
I have his 74 jersey.
Bummed when he got hurt.
Always thought that he was underappreciated and underutilized. Apparently so did the Jets.
So happy he's back.
He'll make a big impact on the o-line and is the reason why we're not freaking out about Abe Lucas' injury.
My favorite Player is now playing for the f*ckin Rams :(
I hope he has 15 great games and two with zero Catches.
So now I have to say Devon Witherspoon. I love attitude.

“Double-Punt” Dickson!
First-Down-Running-Back Dickson !

Favorite play.. Largent knocking Denver CB Hardin out in a great revenge play!
Love Abe Lucas. How many O lineman keep track of their pancake blocks?
I'm guessing pretty much all of them, but what do I know?
Largent cashed in all his zen karma in that one play. Poetry in motion.
