The Seattle Seahawks go into the 2024 season with one of the three best receivers corps in the NFL. If you just compared 1-2, the Seahawks might not rank in the top-three. If you compared 1-2-3, Seattle would be up there with the Bears, Texans and suprisingly the Titans. But when you go 1-2-3-4-5…?

The only other teams I could mention are probably the Texans (Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Stefon Diggs, Robert Woods, John Metchie) and maybe the Packers just in terms of Green Bay having a lot of starters but no stars. The Seahawks on the other hand do have stars at the receiver position, but they also have amazing depth.

To the point where you almost pine for a vision into a season with Jake Bobo or Laviska Shenault getting way more targets this year than they’re actually going to get. Yet they’re stuck behind two established starters (one of whom is a 1-of-1 physical presence) and the second-highest drafted receiver in Seahawks history. If the Seahawks had to go to Bobo or Shenault though, I wouldn’t be worried. The depth is that good.

As I wrote in Thursday’s first Seaside Joe newsletter, I will rate every player on the Seahawks roster (hopefully before the game) on a 1-5 point scale over six categories and publishing a prediction for their 2024 season. The first edition is about Seattle’s running backs and is free to read, so it’s a good example of what you can expect in every “Close Your Eyes” test experiment. Every other post in the series will go behind the paywall, exclusive to Regular Joes and Super Joes subscribers.

Part I: Running Backs

Part III: Defensive Bigs

Part IV: Linebackers

Part V: Tight Ends

Part VI: Interior O Bigs

A sneak peek at what to expect from the Seahawks receivers below:

*What Tyler Lockett needs to do to stay in Seattle beyond 2024
*What DK Metcalf is after and why it could motivate him to have a career-year
*Why JSN will still lead the team in targets and catches
*What every receiver on the team’s greatest strengths and weaknesses are
*How Jake Bobo, Laviska Shenault, and Dareke Young fit into the Seahawks plans
