It is so tough to make it in the NFL. So many great atheletes, so few opportunities. An inopportune injury or just a bad day on the field can derail someone's career at an early stage. Eskridge is one of those guys who may fall into the "he could have been a contender" category.
Ps I just read that Shane Wharton of Bleacher report thinks the Seahawks should cut Rashaad Penny for "symbolic reasons". The move would only save half a million, but it proves ???? What a lazy boob. There are a number of players for his story on who should be cut on each team. I would do far better at least doing the homework, rather than making up nonsense!! Thanks for keeping it real Ken
I saw that report too. Absolutely illogical! I guess he had to pick someone because that was the click-happy headline. What would that even symbolize? We punish people for injuries, but only after we give them a few million dollars for fun.
As Joe knows I wanted the Seahawks to draft Dee Eskridge. I feel sorry for him not getting reps and earning the trust of the QBs. His one touchdown last year came because Russell went through 4 reads before he found him. I hope Dee takes off when they let him go.
The hard thing about Ken's post is I want everyone of the guys he mentioned to make the team. When you get to know them, through Ken, just a little bit I root for them. Cade Johnson did get praise from Pete. I believe punt returner is still wide open, if he can make a couple nice returns and not make mistakes there could be a spot. I think Dareke might have already made the team, not mentioned is how intelligent he is. I believe he has a double major, not in basket weaving. Like I said they all seem like great young men good luck to them and, John and Pete making the right calls.
As Doug noted, everybody in the NFL is a great athlete. If you're a seventh round pick then either you weren't productive enough in college, you aren't an above-the-curve athlete, or you don't have a physical advantage (ala Tariq Woolen). What we fans don't get to see is the brain game. Russell Wilson made that his trademark. With players such as Dareke Young, Bo Melton, and Cade Johnson making an NFL roster depends on their ability to learn quickly and avoid mistakes. How many rookies have we seen produce highlights in practice only to be benched or cut by Pete for making mistakes? It sounds like Cade Johnson is gaining Pete's trust and that is huge.

There should be a Bruce Irvin Award for players who barely get into JC and then get picked in the first round.
For God’s sake show Something!!
We don't know what the coaches see on the practice field and in the film room.
We have an idea what they’re seeing on the practice field.
