Sam proved himself with the way he handled ball control after the 4-int Rams game. Only 4 ints in the 10 games after that. He locked in, and maintained his level of passing production and overall management of the offense. Impressive as any QB in the league. OC who knows him well coming in next year, the best is yet to come.

A lot of people felt that the coaching staff put the reigns on him ("game manager") after that first Rams game. And perhaps they did, but not to any detriment. I thought he played so smart in the playoffs and Super Bowl. There's no flaw in taking what the defense gives you -especially when you are ahead.

What if Shaheed is our internal breakout….on offense? With a full offseason to work on timing and get integrated into the offense, I’m expecting much more from him.

We might be in the golden age of Seahawks football and don't realize it yet. I love our trajectory. Hoping we stay healthy and can run it back. Riley Mills was such a small sample size it's easy to forget he could regress downward...but dang he looks pretty promising imo. Wish I could be a fly in the wall at HQ and hear those internal discussions around the draft.

I thought we had a pretty good injuries year last year, but haven’t done any research on it. Could that be a swing item as to another SB run, if we have a more normal injuries year?

Just a reminder that Hall of Famer Warren Moon was our QB for a couple of years so it's maybe pre-mature to anoint Darnold the best EVER. Let's see a sample size of a few years of consistency before we make that declaration.

I think MM has proven that he can coach up almost anyone to function in his defense. I'm MOST concerned about the running game. It took a while last year for it to kick in and losing Walker with Charbs absent for some period of time can really hurt us. See: Pete Carrol's offenses.

We all love Warren Moon, but he was well past his prime as a Seahawk, so I think SD is better than our version of WM. And...

What if everything in the running back room goes right? What if Holani, McIntosh, and everybody else come out of the pre-season on fire? 200 yards rushing every week!

Or even most talented ever, even compared to a 41-year old Moon, who carried the two Seattle teams he QB’d. Without him, the 8-8 ‘97 team would have been lucky to win five games.

PFF’s offseason grade so far is in and both the niners and the Rams have higher grades than the Hawks. No surprise there.

PFF is wrong about the Seahawks more than they’re right. Last offseason they had the Hawks competing with the Cardinals for last place in the division and a below .500 team. The only reason they aren’t grading them more harshly is because they just won the SB, not because they brought back all but 5 players from that team and have a plan to replace those players who became too expensive to keep. The Rams and 49ers are going all in on this year. They’re getting older, while the Seahawks stay young. JS doesn’t just want to win the SB again this year, he’s looking to be a serious contender for several more years. This is a weak draft class where depth falls off fast after 100. He’s planning to address three of the needs left by losing key players to free agency with the three picks he has in the top 100 picks this year. Most likely at CB, EDGE and RB. Next year is being talked about as a generationally deep class, and the Hawks have 12 picks already. No team has more. This is by design. They’ll get 4 comp picks in rounds 4 and 5 as long as they don’t sign a free agent above a certain cost. That’s why there’s been no splashy signings despite having cap space. He plans on keeping JSN Spoon and possibly D Hall next year and cap space will be needed for them. Then there’s Darnold the following year. JS is planning to be what the Chiefs almost were. If my rating meant anything, I’d give them an “A”

I agree that there is a lot that can go right. Coach MM has a history of taking players that were good and making them special. John Benton, same story, now Jay Harbaugh, same story. I think that Brian Fleury may be cut from that same mold, which is why he was hired from the outside, when all indications were that MM would promote from within. Sam IS the best QB the Hawks have ever had based on talent, and now results, IMHO. Coaching and development counts for a lot in the NFL, which. Is why some coaches are seen as winners, like Any Reid, John Harbaugh, Sean McVay, etc. For my money, you can put coach MM in that grouping. I hate it that I have to wait 6 months for the next game!!

My sports teams are scattered throughout the continent, and each loyalty has its own backstory. But my baseball team has been the Cleveland Indians/ Guardians for over four decades. They were utterly dormant this offseason, not filling any needs with big names or even mid-tier flyers. Here’s the reason: they have a stockpile of young kids who need MLB reps to see what they’ve got, test their mettle and potential. It just reminds entirely of the Hawks’ untested depth players. Holani, Mills, Arroyo, Horton all need NFL reps. And getting FA’s blocks their path. While the pundits scream that we didn’t do near enough to improve our team, or even stay the same, JS and MM are going against the grain and saying, “Let the kids play.” Let the sports analysts overreact.

About those sports analysts: I saw recently that the hawks received a D+ or was it a D- grade for their free agency efforts. It would be great if there were some accountability attached, for every aspect of these pundit’s prognostications: projected wins/season, FA and Draft grades. It seems like the big name analysts are unduly in fluenced by the big splash moves. Wish there was a place where I could go to see the records for the previous 3 or 4 seasons of each of the big name sports talkers. Who picked the hawks to win the SB last year? What were the Vegas odds?

Darnold is unique for several reasons. He is humble and shows gratitude for the team successes rather than taking credit or blame. His aura is so calm no matter what kind of pressure he's facing. He's happy. He lets the others jump up and down to celebrate and delights in watching them.

Seeing how K9 has responded to this season and his MVP award made it easy for me to accept him moving on to a team of egos.

Seriously doubt that any other sport site will have examples like this. Yea!, KenJoe.
