Not to forget Mr. Morris on the DL... I hear he's not chopped liver.

Wonder what's up with Chenna. No word on whether his deal got re-worked, so maybe they are working with him on it still. They'll do something with that in all likelihood, but I guess he's under contract so they have lots of time to either work something out, or release him. Hopefully they can work something out. Good player when he's healthy.

Happy they worked something out with Stoll and Jones. Solid contributors.

The Crosby saga is fascinating. The reporting this morning (mostly from Crosby himself) is that he now wants to stay a Raider. The Raiders appear to be a hot mess. Terrible team last year. Are trying to buy their way to improvement via Free Agency. Now that the Crosby trade has been rescinded, they lose a bunch of draft capital. So what now, draft, and subsequently ruin, a QB? And find out buying a team in FA rarely (if ever) works? I'm so glad that's not how the Seahawks operate.

Interesting that it looks like we’ll have the full WR room back in 2026. Team seems confident in the depth and diversity of talent there.

So really, the only new guy who touches the ball on offense this coming season is a running back. Pretty high confidence in the offensive talent. So - we focus on D in the draft and add a little depth on offense? Some more OL for development, I guess. A center if we’re hyped on a guy (“looks good at the Senior Bowl”).

Ugh...feels like we're losing a game of "Musical Defensive Ends." Chubb just signed by Buffalo to a seemingly reasonable contract. Does this force us to go after Crosby? Our options are dwindling...

Josh Jones 👍

I’d like to see Russell and Pili signed next.

So… draft needs seem to be RB, CB, and Edge - in that order of need. However, positional value might reverse the order for selections in the draft.

That said, I expect that Schneider will fill at least one of these roles in a trade. He acquired Marshawn Lynch from the Bills in 2010 for a 2011 4th round spot and a conditional 2012 pick (that ended up being a 5th.) Let’s do something like that again!

Anyone looking at RBs late in the draft? Not much but...I'll put this name out there, Adam Randall. Clemson wr that switched to rb senior year because injuries. 6-3 232lb 4.5 forty. According to espn zero career fumbles. Hmmm....

I've been looking, but Randall's a full 100 slots below where I quit. PFF has him at 317, NFLDraftBuzz (which I use because it gives me data for free, no idea what filter to put on its scouts) has him at 275. Really interesting prospect. Apparently a great athlete who dropped too many passes to stay on the field, so they made him RB last year. The report I read says he can't block or read blocks yet, which isn't a surprise. High character guy leaving college with two degrees, so that sounds like a 'Hawk. Big upside. Could return kicks (can you imagine him back with Shaheed?). BUT. He is the epitome of a practice squad player who will take developing, especially into our wide zone scheme (assuming that's who we remain, and that seems a fair assumption). I'd love to take that chance, based on what I've read, but he's not likely to help us next year.

At this point I think JS is going to be trolling for extra picks. Would I take him with our lone 6th round pick? I'm thinking G or bonus CB there (been getting the second Husky there in the mocks lately, when I go that deep). But if he can finagle another pick in that neighborhood, boy. That's the first player that deep in the draft I've been interested in. Thanks for the tip.

damn... I was really hoping I could get that long snapper job this year.

Don Ellis's avatar

Well, it's possible but you will need to beat out Stoll for the job now. We are all pulling for you!

It's great they kept Josh Jones for another season. I'm surprised there wasn't a market for him, though we don't know the contract details yet.

I'm very surprised Woolen couldn't get a decent multi-year contract. The inconsistencies were clear, but how much did that one bone-headed taunting penalty cost him? He's not even in the same ballpark as other FA CBs of similar age/experience. I hope he can have a good season, as long as it doesn't hurt us, and cash in this time next year.

I think word gets around — won’t always square up to tackle, lazy at the top of the route bc can catch up physically but the good WR’s create too much separation, and then the exasperating need to mouth off.

Over and above the individual moments of dumbshittery, I think it's the simple fact that 2 different coaches had demoted him during the season. The league takes note of that sort of thing. Teams have game planned him. So I think that although his talent is obvious, so are his warts. A prove-it deal is all I would have given him. I certainly wouldn't have paid him more than Jobe.

Danno's avatar

It wasn’t just the taunting play, it was the one immediately following where his poor play resulted in an LA TD. The swing in win probability on those two plays was huge! It went from a 2 score game with the Seahawks in possession and with the momentum to make it a 3 score game in the 4th quarter, to a very competitive game with the Rams in a position to win it. Everyone watch Woolen shit the bed and almost single-handedly knock the Seahawks out of the playoffs. This was not a matter of a player getting beat. This was a dumb shit being a dumb shit. Talented as he is, he is not worth it.

I hated to see the demise of Woolen over the years. Sherm had anointed Woolen to become a very good CB when he first came into the league. Another I latched onto early was DK, but grew to be really disappointed in his babyish behavior. I also loved K9 when he first came up. Fortunately, the only jerseys I bought were Russ and Wags. I'm thinking about changing my strategy and buying jerseys of players after a couple of years into their second contracts.

Grant's avatar

I, likely most Seattleites, and certainly MM and JS agree with you.

There are several dumb-shit-Riq moments over the years, but that taunting penalty was the dumbest and most recent. He doesn't have the opportunity to get burned for a TD on the next play without that flag. That flag doesn't impact the game so much if he makes the interception. That was some real dumb shit! It might have cost us the game, but it also did probably cost him $10 million+. If he makes that interception at that moment in that NFL Championship game on that league MVP and Puka, what does his market look like today?

Danno's avatar

No doubt it cost him big time bucks. They had a mic’ed up segment with MM on the sideline asking a ref what was going on and the ref said one of the Seahawks players was getting flagged for taunting. The ref said he’d get the number of the player. MM said don’t bother, it’s 27. Whatever slim chance Woolen had to stay evaporated in that moment and was sealed with cement on the next play.

I also feel they sign Pili. With J Reed’s age and limited draft capital this year, I feel DT can be filled with Mills, Big Cat, Murphy and Pili on the cheap. D Young and Russell will finish off the list of unsigned Seahawks from 2025, unless Cody White and Charles Surratt get added on the cheap.

With the 15 players signed a month ago to futures contracts (basically the 2025 Ready Squad), the 9 players signed over the past 3 days, and the remaining Seahawks players already under contract for 2026, this roster is much bigger than it was last year at this time. A lot of the same faces coming back to camp this year.

Danno's avatar

This is a wild number: On the first day of the 2026 season the Seahawks have 67 players under contract. 5 RFAs that could be signed (C White, B Pili, B Russell, C Surratt and D Young) If they all get signed that takes us to 72 players under contract. Without signing a single outside free agent. JS and MM are truly rolling it back with the team!

Emphasis on Mills. He's done his time and passed muster with The Guys.

Ferg's avatar

If they don’t re-sign Pili, they’ll need some DL depth. How is the draft depth on the interior line?

Seaside Joe's avatar

typically if your draft goal is just big beef on the interior, those guys tend to make it to the second round. the non-passer rushers.
