Seaside Joe 1361: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I find it hard to believe that this is the fourth Thanksgiving that some of us have shared together. When I started Seaside Joe in 2019, I never imagined that it would consume so much of my life and become my greatest passion (Career Advancement Division) and that’s what I’m thankful for: You!

There is no Seaside Joe without You, otherwise it’s just one weird guy writing to himself. The ‘one weird guy’ part is still true, but thank you for reading so that I have another human on the other end of my two-cans-with-a-string. Whether we have shared the last 1,361 days together or you only signed up yesterday, I’m grateful and thankful for you being here. Now let’s make our bellies-full.

Seaside Chats: Gameday Edition

On Wednesday, I tested out the subscriber chats feature on the Substack app. Personally, I’ve always been extremely hesitant to add apps to my phone or to “try new features!” with any company. Feels like they’re just trying to sell me something and I hate it when people try to sell me things (“Don’t forget to sign up for Seaside Joe” he said for the 50,000th time) but in this particular case I gave in because I WANT to be able to connect with the Seasider community more regularly. And for you to connect with each other.

The chat test run went stupendously. I’m keeping the app and we’re taking our gameday activities to the next level starting this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders.

A Seahawks-Raiders game chat will allow us to interact LIVE during the game and I know that talking to you on Sunday will increase my knowledge of ‘what the hell just happened?’. In my ideal world, there’s somebody in the thread who is giving insight into the play of only the offensive line, another person is chiming in about the coaching and the play calling, another person has insight into Xs and Os, and another person is following who’s in and out of the game.

That’s just in an ideal world. Potentially what we could be building towards. But generally speaking, we can finally have a Seasider Community that’s active DURING the games, and if it goes well, we could continue that through other key times of the year like free agency and the draft.
