What a weird comment from the moderator (the discussion starts at about 47 minutes in).

But the moderator asked "who is this year's Detroit Lions ... by December 31st we are not gonna believe this team has risen to this level." ... The other guy says the Seattle Seahawks. And then the moderator says the quote that Joe pointed out (“Seattle feels like they’re one and done…The wheels will fall off next year if they do not at least, I think, capitalize on some things, right?”)

Which makes no sense because the Lions were not an all-in team last year and are considered one of the top teams in the NFC

Then the moderator doesn't elaborate on what he means by wheels falling off or who needs to capitalize. Which kind of stands in stark contrast to what the interviewee is talking about who goes on to say talk about how good Geno Smith is ... "the metrics show that he is a way better quarterback than public perception" <- another day another example of a national media member figuring it out.

It's funny because, the way I hear this, is A) they don't understand the cap (which is probably not possible given their background) or B) the moderator unknowingly is saying that Geno Smith's wheels will fall off and the fairy tale ride will end. Which if that were to happen (I don't think that will happen but anything is possible) then yeah I think 2025 and beyond could be very rough with Sam Howell or a rookie. (Although I wouldn't be surprised if JS doesn't call up Lock, if he hasn't already won the starting job already in NY)

Geno Smith is just the story that keeps on giving. It is fascinating.
