22 days ago, I wrote that “Geno Smith is not holding out”, making Seaside Joe the first person to note that the Seahawks quarterback definitely could, probably should, and potentially would ask the team for a new contract in the wake of similar quarterbacks getting significantly more money than he’s getting from Seattle. That was my stab at a situation that I guess had flown under the radar for most everyone else and similar to some other Seahawks contract situation predictions to come true in the past (like being the first to speculate that the team would have Tyler Lockett take a pay cut), it was reported last week by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo that Geno has approached the team about a new contract.

I did not feel the need to write about Geno’s contract (again) last week because you probably have heard the rumors already, it’s being covered everywhere else, it doesn’t need to be covered here. What I would rather provide to you is Seahawks information, coverage, takes (aka educated speculation) that you do not get anywhere else and now I remember what I was going to say about how this situation could potentially be resolved within the next three weeks…

Unfortunately, we do have to talk about Derek Carr again.

Support Seaside Joe’s extremely daily (almost 2,000 days in a row) Seahawks newsletter by upgrading to Regular Joes or Super Joes before Week 1:

(As a reminder of other speculative contract situations that are only monitored here at Seaside Joe, there’s my feeling that DK Metcalf is not going to play 2025 in Seattle on his current deal and he might get an extension this year; so that’s one we can watch for together.)
