Geno Smith isn't Seattle's bridge QB

Regardless of how you feel about Geno Smith, one thing he can’t possibly be is a bridge quarterback. At least, not to the Seattle Seahawks.
You can believe the Seahawks should extend Geno, you can think it best for Seattle to cut Geno, but the least-sensible thing for John Schneider to do would be to keep Geno for one year on his current contract as a bridge quarterback because that implies that his place on the team is at the service of the future.
If the Seahawks keep Geno Smith for 2025, that is at the cost of the future: $31 million worth of future.
Based on the changes that Seattle has made since the end of the season, if what Schneider, Mike Macdonald, and Klint Kubiak want at quarterback is an experienced veteran who would just hold the fort until 2026 and be the cheapest starter in the NFL then their answer won’t be Geno. Hate it or feel nothing about it, the Seahawks most logical option for a BRIDGE quarterback in 2025 would clearly be:
